The Boy Who Borrowed Tomorrow

In Hurryville City, nobody hates waiting more than Leo. So when Wizzle the When-Witch offers him the Tomorrow Borrower 3000, he can’t resist. One press and ZIPPETY-ZANG! His homework is done, his science project has won, and it’s already his birthday. But the prize feels borrowed, and the cake feels hollow.

A bouncy, rhyming read-aloud about patience, effort, and the good stuff hiding in the waiting. For ages 5 to 8, in hardcover, paperback and ebook.

The name

Alchemilla vulgaris

Alchemilla vulgaris is lady’s mantle, a low green plant with pleated leaves that hold rain and dew in whole, unbroken beads. Medieval alchemists walked out at dawn to collect that water, convinced it was the purest thing they could put in a vessel — and they named the plant after the work.

They were wrong about the chemistry and right about the picture. A press does the same thing: it gathers what has collected, and holds it in a form that keeps. That is the whole editorial philosophy, and it is printed on the spine.

Every book we publish is one we would want on the shelf in twenty years, not one that has to sell out by Christmas. Kelly Pasztor, publisher
