About the press

A one-person publishing house in Wisconsin, working at the pace the books actually need.

What we are

Alchemilla Press is an independent book imprint, founded in 2026 as the publishing arm of Kelly Pasztor LLC. We publish illustrated books for children and the adults reading over their shoulder, in small numbers, made to last on a shelf.

Everything is produced to trade specification and distributed through Ingram, so a bookshop in another state or a library three counties over can order our books exactly the way they order everyone else’s.

Why lady’s mantle

The leaves of Alchemilla vulgaris are pleated like a folded fan, and water sits on them in perfect beads instead of soaking in. Alchemists gathered that dew at first light and called it the cleanest water there was; the plant took its name from their work.

It is a good description of publishing. You collect what has gathered, and you hold it in a form that keeps. The colophon — a leaf, a single gold drop, a double rule — says exactly that.
